The House and Senate this past week were both focused on second reading and third reading deadlines. This led to some extended debate on the floor of each chamber as legislators communicated their final views on bills before conference committees begin.
The end of the 2017 Indiana General Assembly is finally in sight. This past week we saw the final, full week of committee meetings for this year’s session.
Today, Citizens Action Coalition released a legal analysis of the controversial, anti-solar bill SB309 authored by Senator Brandt Hershman (R-Buck Creek). Jennifer Washburn, Counsel for CAC, authored the memo, which raises significant concerns over the language of the bill and the claims made by proponents of the legislation.
Week twelve of the Legislative Session is now in the books and the Statehouse is headed into the final push towards sine die, or final adjournment, on or before April 21st.
With only two more weeks of committee meetings remaining, calendars quickly filled up this past week while Committee Chairs worked to clear their schedules of bills.
