Report Number E079
American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy - www.aceee.org
Executive Summary
Based on the U.S. House of Representative’s legislation (H.R.3221) of 2007 of an RES of 11% Renewable Energy and 4% Energy Efficiency by 2020 the program by the year 2030 (and compared to business-as-usual) would result in the following:
- Reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 100 million metric tons
- Reduce electricity usage by 22 billion kilowatt hours
- Create 32,000 net new jobs per year
- Eliminate the need for twenty nine 500-megawatt coal-fired power plants
- Save Indiana $60 billion
