IPL public hearing brings out community opposition

On January 24, a little under a hundred folks made their way to the Indiana History Center to make their voices heard regarding IPL's current plan to raise electric rates.

Some joined the Sierra Club protest before the hearing; some just came to speak to regulators about giving more money to IPL to continue to prop up old, outdated coal plants.

IPL's plan to spend more than $500 million on pollution controls for plants that are both outdated and unnecessary has frustrated customers on both an economic and environmental level.
