A damning new analysis by Citizens Action Coalition (CAC) exposes how Indiana’s monopoly utilities have imposed the most severe electric bill increases on residential customers in at least two decades — with some families paying nearly $50 more a month than just one year ago.

CAC and Vote Solar, with the assistance of Earthjustice, filed testimony recommending that the IURC approve the retirement of Duke's Cayuga coal units, reject the proposed natural gas units, and instruct Duke Energy to expand distributed energy resources, such as demand response, energy efficiency, and distributed generation.

CAC declares its opposition to the proposed CenterPoint electric rate case settlement filed on Monday before the IURC. If the settlement is approved as filed, the average CenterPoint residential customer using 799 kWh would see their bill increase from $154.02, to $189.05, or an increase of $35.03 (22.74%).
